Alison是当今美国兰草音乐的领军者，“兰草音乐”（Blue Grass）是美国民间音乐的一种，从上世纪二十年代出现并开始发展，在新世纪里未显丝毫颓败之势，因Alison 这样优秀兰草歌手的不断革新，使兰草音乐焕发出更为迷人的气质，作品逐渐挤占主流唱片市场份额，且在全球都拥有越来越多的歌迷。

     当一位乡村电台 DJ 某天在节目中播放 Alison 精选专辑主打歌 When You Say Nothing At All 后，每天如浪潮般的点歌频率，开启了乡村音乐的一个新传奇。Alison 在 1995 年与 Union Station 合作的精选大碟，曾是乡村音乐排行榜第 2 名、流行音乐专辑第 15 名，全美销量达二百万张，这对于一个乡村歌手而言，是相当大的数目。不过与其说专辑得到如此多的成功是个意外，不如承认 Alison 无可否认十分甜美的歌喉，及用心演唱的态度，才是让她长久以来受歌迷肯定的主要原因。

　　16岁时，Alison与美国乡村音乐最重要的独立唱片公司Rounder签约，发行第一张个人专辑，立刻成为乐评家的最爱。18岁首度获得葛莱美奖，之后每出唱片几乎都会获得乐评和众多奖项的肯定，她得到过无数乡村音乐奖项，其中包括10项葛莱美奖。《People》杂志对她的评价是“她有许多可以赞美的地方，包括她那如丝绸般令人舒服的歌声，和可以演唱多种风格的唱腔。”

　　“When You Say Nothing At All”是Julia Roberts 与 Hugh Grant 领衔主演的浪漫文艺片《Notting Hill》的主題曲，95年由Alison Krauss翻唱，她凭借这首歌以精湛传情的演唱勇夺格莱美奖。
